About

This blog is a way to organize geographic research on various biblical narratives.

Sometimes we read the Bible and the stories seem flat and lifeless. We can breeze through a simple phrase and not understand that hours or days of walking are implied. We zip around in our vehicles or mass transit forgetting that the timing of a journey may play as much into the story as the events described.

In an attempt to make my daily walks more interesting, I try to match the distance traveled with those biblical characters would have covered. By understanding how far apart locations are, we can hopefully bring them closer to our understanding.

You are invited to join me on these walks. Feel free to print out the maps and document your distances. Read and research for yourself the locations and the history. Share your ideas and discoveries in the comments.

If you prefer to follow larger story lines in a chronological or sequential order, check out the Challenges page. Thank you for joining me on this virtual journey through the Bible.
